Hi, I’m Lara, designer and founder of Caoba ♡
Caoba began in Buenos Aires in 2021 with a sewing machine at home.
I started by taking apart clothes I already owned, working with fabric scraps, and experimenting with new shapes. Caoba’s first corset was made from a T-shirt I had taken apart to reuse the fabric. I didn’t have a collection or a particularly big plan. I simply had many ideas for clothes I wanted to wear but couldn’t find, so I started making them.
Little by little, those first experiments became Caoba.
The brand has grown since then, but it remains a very personal project. I design every garment, choose the fabrics, plan the collections, photoshoots, launches, and the entire world surrounding them. I’m still involved in every part of Caoba, and I believe that is something that has remained unchanged from the beginning.
Much of my inspiration comes from vintage clothing. I’m drawn to its silhouettes, fit, colors, fabrics, and especially those small details that make a garment feel unique.
When I design, I think a lot about creating pieces with personality that are also comfortable, versatile, and able to stay with you for years. I love the idea that a garment you choose today can still feel special a long time from now, and that you can discover new ways to wear it as time goes by.
I’m also very interested in how a garment can change the way you feel. We live fast-paced lives, surrounded by things happening all the time, and to me, getting dressed can be a way of stepping away from that reality, even if only for a moment.
Whether you’re heading to work on a Tuesday, going out for a drink, or simply living your everyday life, putting on a garment can make you feel as though you’ve stepped into another world. A more romantic, slower world, a little more like a story, even though you’re still exactly where you are.
I don’t design only with the appearance of a garment in mind. I care about how it fits, how it moves with the body, and, above all, how it makes you feel when you wear it.
Caoba continues to grow in the same way it began: one idea, one fabric, and one garment at a time.
Thank you for being here and for choosing Caoba 🤎
